Dalits are the former “untouchables” of India, most Dalits have no land and no other regular source of income. Women have a particularly hard time, every day they struggle to put food on the table and often experience domestic violence.
The project supports 50 Dalit women to earn income by raising Kadaknath (black) chickens. These chickens are easy to keep and loved by consumers for their meat which is low in fat, high in protein and very healthy.
